Some questions I had were: How do you pick the right location? What are your thoughts on investing in the rust belt or dilapidated american cities as a long-term hold? (Warren buffet greedy/fearful mindset. Some houses, although ruined, are in american cities, worth less than 30k). Recommended size for down payment? Recommended price to buy a condo in my area (I feel like it's overvalued but never sure when is a good time to get in)? Thoughts on when prices in the US will be corrected? (I feel like it won't be until regulation kicks in against institutional investors buying up all the supply. Once that levels out and consumers can start owning again we'll see houses go back down to 150-300k rather than 400k+. Until then everyone is renting I feel.) Thanks again for all your advice and adventures with us.

Another thing, unfortunately the government bots are going to make bad comments to you, due to the new change of government and the president of Mexico who is a pro-Cuba leftist, therefore he brings the communist script where he seeks to deceive Mexicans with bot farms by writing comments everywhere social networks, comments that suit the government to seek votes saying that the communists are going to take care of our Mexican lands in the United States and that the gringos are coming for our lands. That communist script only seeks to put hatred and division between rich and poor, between Americans and Latinos, please do not pay attention to those comments, they are just bots that not even Mexicans should be.

Was this a purchase or a long term lease? My understanding, and it might be dated, is Mexico doesn’t allow foreigners to purchase property. Either way congratulations and best to you.
Huge congrats! I've been wondering the progress of your purchase. I checked out and "lived" in Mexico City for a month last July and it's a fantastic city. I'm from NYC. And it rivals as an urban (though can't beat NYC, let's be real). This doesn't apply to people like Rose because she speaks Spanish. But to feel truly belong in a foreign land you should be fluent in the local language. If you don't understand the simple chattering around you, you can feel like you're half there. And to feel settled in an environment, you have to feel like you belong. At least for me anyway. My Spanish is limited but learning to improve it every day.
